Unsolved Crimes April 17th to April 21st
Crimes of opportunity occur when thieves take advantage of situations such as doors and windows left unlocked, and valuables left in plain view. Crime happens; all we can do is reduce the opportunity.

Nanaimo file # 2020-14160 Reported on April 17th but occurred on April 14th, a vehicle parked in on Bryden St was broken into. The front passenger window was smashed and insurance papers taken. The car alarm had been set off and a neighbour looked out at the time, and saw a nearby youth nearby carrying a skateboard. No further description available.
Nanaimo file # 2020- 14142 Overnight on Friday April 17th a theft occurred at the Petro-Canada located at the intersection of Uplands Drive and Rutherford Road. Video surveillance showed a shadowy figure, reach through with a stick and grab a box of candy valued at $40. Police suggested to the owner to move any valuable items away from windows to prevent further thefts.
Nanaimo file # 2020-14261 At approximately 7:40 am on Saturday April 18th, Pacific Rim Distributors located at 2260 McGarrigle Road reported an attempted break and enter. A grainy video surveillance showed a dark figure pry open a bay door then walk into the garage several metres, stop then retreat after motion sensor light were activated. Suspect described as adult male wearing hoody, jeans and gloves.
Nanaimo file # 2020-14288 Overnight on Saturday April 18th, a vehicle parked in the 1800 block of Meredith Road was broken into. Taken was a men’s Northface jacket, Quicksilver sunglasses, a Canon camera and loose change.
Nanaimo 202014347 At approximately 11 pm on Saturday April 8th a homeowner on Sarum Rise interrupted a break and enter, and theft from his garage, Police were told the homeowner heard a noise coming from the garage. Upon inspection, he found a male with several of his items who quickly dropped them and took off running. The suspect was last seen running in the direction of Stonewater Drive. The suspect is a white male, thin with long brown, flipped at the ends, and wearing skinny black jeans and black runners with white soles.
Nanaimo file # 2020-14386 Reported on April 19th but having occurred on April 16th, a mountain bike was stolen from the front yard of a home located in the 400 block of Seventh St. The bike is a grey/black Iron Horse (Judy model) black Marisachi shocks, with spiked after market pedals
Nanaimo file # 2020-14491 At approximately 2:30 am on Monday April 20th, an unknown person defecated and urinated in the carport of a home in the 2500 block of Labieux Road. Taken was a 2″ black Black and Decker nail gun.
