Female robbed by stranger

On Saturday Nov 29th an attempted robbery occurred behind the Windward beer and wine

A 38 year female sustained minor injuries during a robbery attempt that occurred on Saturday November 29 at approximately 8:45 pm while walking home from the Windward Beer and Wine store, located at 1588 Boundary Ave.

Officers attended to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital to speak with the female who was being treated for minor abrasions and bruising. She told police she was walking through a wooded area that connects the Beaufort Centre to Seafield Crescent, when a male approached from behind. Without warning he grabbed her pony tail and demanded she give him all her money. He then forced her to the ground, struck her on the head with a stick and kicked her several times.

The suspect did not manage to take any of her belongings and was last seen running down a path towards Seafield Crescent. Police attended to the Beer and Wine Store, reviewed video footage and carried out patrols of the area but were not able to locate the suspect.

The victim did not see the suspects face but described him as being 6 foot and wearing a black or dark blue puffy style 3/4 length jacket. He also wore a dark hat with a white or yellow design on the back. She also told investigators he had a very deep masculine voice.
