Unsolved January 21 - 24th, 2014

The following are crimes that remain unsolved in Nanaimo and need the public's assistance in solving.

1.      On January 21, 2014, 2 bikes, black and grey Gary Fisher and a small green BMX, that were locked with a cable to a pole were stolen from Mill Street.  File 2014-1747

 

2.      A residence on 6th Street was broken into around January 20th through a rear sliding glass door, a 50" Sony flat screen TV, a grey LG Laptop and a small red Nikon camera were stolen from the residence.   File 2014-1705.

 

3.      Overnight to January 22nd, someone broke into a F350 work truck on Marvelle Place, identification, keys and a Lincoln grease gun were stolen.    File 2014-1775

 

4.      Vandals damaged a sprinkler head and graffitied on a door with ‘Bad Wolf’ at North Town Center sometime overnight on January 22nd.  File 2014-1820

 

5.      A Hyundai Sonata was broken into at Mountain Vista Dr and a backpack containing English language books and a MP3 player stolen.  File 2014-1827

 

6.      On January 22nd, 2014, a silver Toyota Matrix aboard BC Ferries into Departure Bay was damaged. A green and brown American Traveler carry-on bag containing a black Canon D70 Camera (worth $2,500), an H6 Sound Board (valued $1,000), a portable light (valued $500), a black lapel mike (valued $1,000) and a black shotgun mike (valued $500) were stolen.   File 2014-1861

 

7.      On January 23, 2014, a witness quickly called police after he interrupted a male breaking into his truck on Panorama Drive.  A Police Service Dog was used in the investigation which lead to the location and recovery of property stolen from numerous vehicles in the area.   The suspect is described as a white male, wearing a black jacket with a white eagle on the back and is believed to have joined up with someone else before leaving the area.  Outstanding stolen items include a gym bag containing clothing, cash, identification, headphones, sunglasses, and garage door openers.  The majority of vehicles entered were left unlocked.  Files 2014-1880, 1888, 1891, 1894, 1897, 1899, 1903

 

8.      A laundry room door was pried open on Dufferin Crescent and loose change stolen from the machines overnight to January 23, 2014.   File 2014-1886.

 

9.      Between January 21rd and 23rd, suspects removed a door to a storage compartment on an RV parked on Prideaux Street and an 4000W generator was stolen.   File 2014-1905

 

10.  Early afternoon on January 23rd, security at Woodgrove Mall reported they had confronted a male who had stolen 2 Otterbox phone cases from The Source before he left in a yellow Chevrolet Cavalier.   The male is described as a white male, with short blonde hair, wearing a black hoodie and baggy jeans File 2014-1916

 

11.  On January 21st while parked at College Dr and Nanaimo Parkway, suspects drilled a hole from underneath a 1993 Red Dakota and siphoned the gas tank.  File 2014-1921

 

12.  On January 23, 2014, three firearms were reported stolen from a trailer in a park on Douglas Ave.   The rifles were a Winchester 3006 Lever action, Savage 300 Magnum bolt action and a Cooey bolt action   File 2014-1925.

 

13.  Around 2:30 AM on January 22nd, 2014, two males were observed entering a garage on Oakridge Dr.  A male in a light colored hoodie was seen trying the door handles of vehicles and looking into the vehicles with a flash light. A second male, entered a vehicle at that location and an Ipod was stolen.  File 2014-1930

 

14.  A 1998 Chevrolet pickup truck was broken into on Benson View Blvd overnight to January 23rd and sunglasses, bluetooth, cell phone charger, auxiliary jack for an Ipod.    File 2014-1933

 

15.  On January 23rd, 2014 at approximately 5:30 pm, a tall & skinny native male, in his late 20's wearing black, carrying a black bag, entered the Brigadoon Dance Academy.  The male took a dancer’s bag into the bathroom and after he was told to leave, witnesses realized that identification was taken from the bag.  File 2014-1934

 

16.  Early morning on January 22nd, 3 vehicles parked on Belmont Place were rummaged through and several items stolen including an Ipad 2 with serial #DMPGRUZKDFHY.   File 2014-1944

 

17.  On January 23, 2014 a hit and run motor vehicle accident occurred a Pheasant Terrace at Starlight in Nanaimo.  A 1995 Toyota Corolla was hit by a gold colored SUV (possibly a Pathfinder) before it sped off down Starlight.  Damage would be visible to the rear driver’s side of the vehicle.   File 2014-1954

 

18.  Overnight to January 24th, 2014,  a 1999 Green Dodge Durango, with BC license plate 620TNS was stolen from a driveway on Douglas Ave overnight. The vehicle had a small "monster" energy drink sticker on the rear and side windows and the tail lights have black Dodge Ram tail light covers.  File 2014-1979
