Unsolved crimes January 16-20th

The following are crimes that remain unsolved in Nanaimo and need the public's assistance in solving.

1.      On January 11, 2014, a lone male with a dog behind John Barsby School cut the chain lock off and stole a blue and white, 21 speed, serial # Y12J010935, Rubok Sphere Mountain bike. File 2014-1338.


2.      Overnight on January 16, 2014 a $2500 MAC laptop was stolen from the music building at Vancouver Island University located at 900 5th St.  File 2014-1360


3.      On January 17th, 2014, a resident awoke to noise in her apartment living room in the 400 block of Rosehill Street. The resident called out and a male exited that apartment, running off with another male.  A 20" HP computer monitor was stolen before he was scared off.  File 2014-1385


4.      In the afternoon of January 17th, 2014, a resident of a home on Nicol Street observed a male attempting to climb in through a window he had broken.  The male is described as white male, in his early 20's, slim build, white shirt, brown hair, dark jacket and blue jeans.  File 2014-1421 



5.      On January 17th, 2014, several items were stolen from the open back door of a business on Turner Road.   The items included keys, cigarettes and a black bag containing gold Nike Running shoes.   Also around the same time a purse was stolen from a black Honda Civic vehicle in the area.  File 2014-1425 & 1429. 


6.      Just before 6 am on January 18th, 2014 a business on Terminal Ave was broken into, after the front door was smashed out and a Black Acer 18" Lap Top was stolen.  File 2014-1503


7.      Overnight to January 18th, 2014, a business on Balsam Rd was broken into after the back window was smashed and several doors within the business pried open.  Change and a

red Kodak Easy Sure camera were stolen.  File 2014-1514.


8.      Between 2 and 4 pm on January 18th, 2014, a blue 2007 Yamaha motor scooter, BC license plate S85423 was stolen from Milford Street.  File 2014-1531.


9.      On January 19, 2014, Two red 25L external outboard marine Honda fuel tanks worth $300, were reported stolen from a boat parked on Bradley St. File 2014-1603


10.   The following theft from vehicles occurred from January 15th-20th-


- On January 15th on Place Road, a 2001 GMC Jimmy was broken into, a small black backpack and black/orange Ocean Rodeo Mako King kite surfing board ($700 value) were stolen. File 2014-1405.

- Sometime overnight to January 16th, 2014, a vehicle was broken into on Glen Eagle Crescent, change and a knife was stolen.  File 2014-1433

- January 16th, on Heritage Dr a grey Audi was rummaged through and scattered.  File 2014-1363

- Overnight to January 17, 2014, a 2010 Mazda MX3 was broken into on Doric Ave. Stolen from the vehicle was a Tom Tom GPS, 32G Apple IPod Touch, IPod car charger, an Apple IPad 2 and a sweater.  File 2014-1436

- A wallet containing identification was stolen from a vehicle on Laguna Way File 2014-1507

- 3 vehicles were broken into on Lost Lake Road several items taken including a large amount of change were taken.  File 2014-1517, 1528 & 1530.

- A 1995 Dodge Caravan was broken into on Bluejay Way and rummaged through, only a small amount of change taken. File 2014-1526

- Early morning on January 19, 2014, a 2001 blue Ford Taurus on Hamilton Road was broken into a energy drinks and change stolen.  File 2014-1592

- Overnight to January 20th, a red Saturn vehicle’s window was smashed out while it was parked on Terminal Ave N and a sub woofer stolen. File 2014-1636
